hello!
we are Hannah and James, we've been a team since 2016 when we worked together at The Marlowe in Canterbury, and we have been touring shows for families all over the country as Toucan Theatre since 2020. ​
our shows are noisy, colourful and fun - we want our projects to help everyone to play and be creative. ​
our work is often a person's first experience of theatre - it is interactive and multisensory - we tell stories in inclusive ways for the development and bonding of all.​​

toucan theatre is project based (funded project to project) so we're not always at our toucan desks (or perches!) - this means we are able to work up and down the country (and abroad) with other people helping them to tell their stories too. by collaborating with other companies and organisations we stay aware of changes and challenges in other communities and bring the things we learn into our Toucan Theatre work.

James Baldwin - Artistic Director and Joint CEO (he/him)
James is an award winning writer, director and facilitor. James loves telling stories and sharing the tools (and breaking the rules) of storytelling. When James isn't creating with Toucan Theatre he works as a freelance writer and practitioner - more information linked here.
